The New Brunswick Department of Health is committed to ensuring the well-being of New Brunswickers by promoting self-sufficiency and personal responsibility, and providing the necessary approved services to achieve its five key goals:
- Increase the number of years individual residents of New Brunswick live free of major illness, disability and handicap.
- Increase emphasis on promotion of well-being and prevention of social dysfunction.
- Assist individuals and families to achieve and maintain well-being.
- Promote the achievement and maintenance of a healthy physical and social environment.
- Provide equitable, affordable and appropriate health and wellness for the citizens of New Brunswick.
New Brunswick’s Addictions and Mental Health Services Division is mandated by the provincial Department of Health to deliver and fund services for alcohol, other drug and gambling problems and to conduct related research. There are addiction services in all health regions of New Brunswick; program delivery varies among the regions.
