Key Guiding Documents
Mental Health and Addictions, offers alcohol and drug services that are administered and delivered by regional health authorities. Many agencies across the province are also involved in alcohol and drug awareness and prevention programs. An Alcohol and Drug Prevention and Education Directorate has been created to help coordinate local efforts, and to deliver province-wide initiatives.

Provincial Drug Strategy or Framework
In August 2004, Saskatchewan Premier Lorne Calvert announced Project Hope, a three-year plan to prevent and treat substance abuse. The government committed $10 million of new annual funding for the project, based on the 15 recommendations contained in the report Healthy Choices in a Healthy Community by the Premier's Legislative Secretary on Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment. The report’s recommendations fall within four core areas: prevention, treatment, co-ordination and central support, and supply reduction.
