Managing Change

Over the past decade, the field of substance abuse has undergone significant change. Regionalization of services, integration with mental health, adoption of best or promising practices, new legislation, reduced funding in some cases and increased funding in others—all these have contributed to the tide of change.  Emerging developments in the realms of health promotion, neuroscience and pharmacotherapies hold the promise of even more change to come. When managed well, change can bring new energy and focus to an organization. When managed poorly, change can demoralize a workforce and compromise the quality of service offered to the client population. In this section, you will find resources on managing organizational change that will equip senior decision makers, managers and front-line staff to plan for and respond positively to change.

Développement d'un système d'amélioration de la qualité des services de réadaptation en toxicomanie (Abstract) [PDF]
The concern for service quality in public organizations is not new, but the willingness to implement a consistent and systematic set of measures aimed at controlling and improving quality is. This is the logical outcome of the thinking process that has taken place since the early ’80s. With the crisis of the welfare state, the increased public debt and the resulting budget cuts, it is essential to provide organizations with tools that will guide their decision-making process.
